Chins need your help!
With the amount of Chinchilla’s that are now here, things are getting tight. I am unable to work full-time (due to health reasons) but do have two part-time jobs, and apart from fundraising myself, there is no money coming in for the chinchilla’s, except for Krystal and Chico’s Sponsor.
Don’t get me wrong - the chins do get what they need, although there is often a delay with their chew toys, simply because it’s expensive. They always have food (pellets, hay and lucerne chaff) and some form of toy(s) in their cage and they do get the interaction they need from me, but considering each rescue is brought (as the ‘owner’ generally always wants money), then the cage, which can easily be $100.00, then the dishes, hammock, water bottle and toys, extra food and a minimum of three vet visits for each new arrival, which naturally does depend on the health of the rescue - well I guess it’s time to look at different avenues where money could come in for them, and a friend gave me the suggestion of Sponsorship, although I did consider this last year, but had less rescues and found it easier to cope financially and as I said - another good friend helps tremendously with sponsoring three chinchilla’s.
What do you get out of it? Aside from helping a chin, you will receive the chinchilla’s profile, what he or she likes, favourite food, personality, health issues, a certificate acknowledging your sponsorship with your chinchilla’s photo on it, date or birth as well, although most were unknown, so have been given birthdays, all contained in a folder where more information can be added. You will also receive two monthly letter giving updates on the chinchilla. If you are local, or come to Christchurch, you would be most welcome to stop by and visit. The sponsorship money would only be spent on your sponsored chinchilla and would most likely go on new chew toys, hammock as well as food and vet care when/if needed.
There are 22 chinchilla’s that are rescues and all 22 are permanent rescues here, they will never go to another home.
What it will cost? Simply $35.00 a year, receipts will be available.
If you are interested in sponsoring a chinchilla, and please, only those that are rescues - see the photos in the album titled “My Rescues” and please feel free to let me know which chin you are interested in and I will provide a wee profile or go to “My Chinchilla’s” and find their brief profile there and how they came to me.
Please feel free to email me at tanzychins@gmail.com
Thank you for your time.
A big “THANK YOU” to the following sponsors for 2009-2010:
Many thanks from Leo and myself to Marie who is sponsoring Leo. Leo has finally become good at sharing his special pressies he receives from Marie and Dallas (yes, Dallas is Marie's Chinchilla and one who has some input in what Leo receives it seems), so this thank you also comes from Button - who get's to share Leo's special pressies
